2017 is election year in New Zealand so that there is more focus upon the countries immigration policy and some changes to the minimum standards.  Immigration New Zealand have become much more proactive in their process requirements for applications. To avoid requests for further information and delay in process, much more emphasis is required for the presentation of applications, particularly in respect of the legal criteria applicable to the various categories of application. As a consequence, we have expanded the basis upon which our applications benefit from legal review. In addition to our own in house legal capacity, we have contracted for our internal advice to be independently reviewed by David McGregor- a barrister & solicitor practicing in Auckland.  David retired recently from the national law practice – Bell Gully where he had been a partner for thirty eight years the last twelve as its senior partner.  He was responsible for the firm’s immigration practices as part of his public law speciality and since 1990 has been engaged in the development, implementation and application of immigration policy in conjunction with the process of applications.
